The last standing link to Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington is now history. A stadium parking sign was removed Monday from a lot on the north side of Mall of America, where the Met — right, which was demolished in 1985 — used to stand. The sign will be autographed by players who competed at the Met and auctioned off to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Cirque du Soleil has temporarily taken over the area, where a big top has risen for its show, “Amaluna.” (The Minnesota Star Tribune)

MET STADIUM / Shown is the old Metropolitan Stadium (Bloomington, Minnesota) in a file photo which ran in the Minneapolis Star in November 1971, though it may be an older photo than that. The Met was a baseball park, though there's a football game going on in this photo. ORG XMIT: MIN2013092318173926
