Gosh, why didn't this movie make hundreds of millions?

Mercedes (JULIA ROBERTS) holds onto Larry (TOM HANKS) in a romantic comedy about how the hard knocks from today?s recession inspire one everyday guy to undergo a personal reinvention and an unexpected second act in his life: ?Larry Crowne?.

Who wouldn't want to see this? Lands sakes, doesn't it look like a caution? By crinkey, can't you just imagine the highjinks those two might get up to? Too bad it skewed old. Hollywood Reporter says:

So there you have it. The average age of a "Larry Crowne" is over 5,000 years old. But that may be the collected age of everyone who actually saw it.
