The Guthrie Theater will commemorate the life of former artistic director Michael Langham next Sunday at 11 a.m.

The celebration will take place in the Thrust Stage, and among those scheduled to pay tribute are current Guthrie director Joe Dowling; actors Peter Michael Goetz, Helen Carey and Barbara Bryne; and Langham associates Stephen Kanee and Jon Cranney. The public is invited.

Langham, a friend of Tyrone Guthrie, served the theater from 1971-77 and is generally credited for stabilizing the institution following a period of turmoil after Guthrie left. He also served as artistic director for 12 years at Canada's Stratford Festival, and directed in England and on Broadway.

He died Jan. 15 at his home outside London.
