Lambda Literary Awards nominees

Twin Cities poet Greg Hewett, St. Paul memoirist Amie Klempnauer Miller among finalists.

Lambda Literary Awards has named 114 finalists this year, including poet Greg Hewett, who lives in the Twin Cities and teaches at Carleton College in Northfield.

Hewett's book of poems, "darkacre," published by Minneapolis-based Coffee House Press, is nominated in the Gay Poetry category. Also nominated in that category is "Salt Ecstasies," by the late poet James L. White, which is published by Graywolf Press of Minneapolis. "Sin Eater," by St. Paul poet

Amie Klempnauer Miller, a St. Paul author, was nominated in the lesbian memoir category for, "She Looks Just Like You: A Memoir of (Nonbiological Lesbian) Motherhood,' published by the Beacon Press. Ellen Hart of Minneapolis was nominated for her mystery, "The Cruel Ever After," published by Minotaur.

The 23rd Annual Lambda Literary Awards, or Lammys, will be handed out in New York at a ceremony on May 26.The finalists include books by mainstream publishers, small presses, academic presses and e-book publishers. Go here for the complete list of finalists.

Other Twin Cities connections in the Lammys finalists include two nonfiction books published by the University of Minnesota Press.
