A motorcyclist died Monday morning after crashing into equipment in a Lakeville construction zone.

Wayne Robert DeWolf, 57, drove his 2015 Yamaha motorcycle around road closure barricades and collided with an asphalt paver parked on Dodd Boulevard near the intersection with 217th Street, according to a post on the Lakeville Police Department's Facebook page. He died at the scene of the crash.

The collision was reported to police around 5 a.m.

DeWolf, a Lakeville resident, was on his way to work when he hit the paver, Lakeville Deputy Chief John Kornmann said. He was not wearing a helmet, according to police.

State Patrol reconstruction experts and the Hennepin County medical examiner's office are working with Lakeville police on the case. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
