A construction worker was injured Thursday morning when a fire and possibly an explosion damaged a partially built house in Lakeville, fire officials said.

The Lakeville fire and police departments arrived at 19343 Impala Av. in response to a 911 call at 9:30 a.m. They found a construction worker who had suffered burns. The worker had been checking heaters in the basement, where the fire started.

The Fire Department had not released the worker's name or condition Thursday afternoon, although a news release said the worker was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. Other workers were in the house at the time of the fire, Fire Chief Mike Meyer said.

The house, which had a completed basement and was being framed, is part of a single-family residential development. There was minor fire damage in the basement of the house, Meyer said.

The state fire marshal's office and Lakeville Fire Department are investigating the fire. The Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration has also been notified.
