Five restaurants worth visiting

La Velle E. Neal III not only knows baseball, but he also knows food. These are eating establishments the longtime Twins beat writer recommends for fans who will visit Fort Myers:

1. The Lighthouse

Located just before the bridge to Sanibel Island. A little pricey but worth it. Loved the yellowtail snapper.

2. The Blue Pointe

Located in the Bell Tower Shopping Center. Another fine place for seafood. Herb-rubbed salmon, yum.

3. Nino's

My favorite Italian eatery, located down the road from Hammond Stadium. Smiling Graziano Buccini is a great host. Bring an extra stomach.

4. Michelbob's

Head south toward Naples for GREAT BBQ. Ribs flown in from Denmark. Owner Bob Mattson is from Minnesota.

5. Bennett's Fresh Roast

For you early risers, head toward downtown. Coffee. Breakfast sandwiches. Donuts made from scratch. Good music, too.
