Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kurt Bills, endorsed but unknown, is playing movie star to get his name in front of Minnesotans.
His campaign has shot a "short film" to be shown Wednesday night at the Riverview Theater as part of the 48 hour film project, in which teams of film makers have two days to create a movie.
"Rather than rely on obvious campaign themes, the film shares a thoughtful message about the importance of staying true to oneself and making choices that will build a better future for all of us. The Kurt Bills team, led by award-winning director Vaughn Juares and an all volunteer cast and crew, shot the film at landmark Minneapolis restaurant, Peter's Grill," Bills' campaign said.
The film's trailer features Bills playing a Rod Serling-like narrator from Twilight Zone.
"The right choices will lead to growth and family. The wrong choices: despair," Bills says in the trailer.
Bills, who has two Republican primary challengers, is working to oust Democratic U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar. Klobuchar is well known, has a significant money advantage and a recent poll found her with support from 55 percent of those polled to Bills' 29 percent.
