The climate in western Texas and western Oklahoma can be pretty awful when itwants to be. In Midland, Texas, for instance, there hasn't been a drop of rainsince June 1, 22 days have been above 100 degrees and the highest temperaturewas 111.The extremely hot, dry weather through this part of the country can beattributed to the jet stream which has stayed pretty far north the past four orfive weeks. This has kept cool fronts away which spelled curtains for any rain.
