When the air becomes very unstable, severe thunderstorms can happen.Instability exists when heated surface air begins to boil upward into a colderenvironment above. When there is ample moisture present, clouds billow upwardand form towering thunderstorms.

Most of thunderstorms cause no harm, but some become extremely violent withdamaging winds, large hail and tornadoes. A thunderstorm's involvement with thejet stream dictates whether or not it will become severe.

Thursday, heavy to severe thunderstorms will cause a big ruckus across Florida.

Storm damage will be isolated as it usually is, but there will be wind gustspast 60 miles per hour, hail the size of golf balls and also some flashflooding.
