This is a serious situation, folks. The Susquehanna, Delaware and Potomac riverbasins, which includes all their tributaries, will have serious flooding duringthe next 48 hours. The culprit is a slow-moving storm that will dump as much as 3 to 4 inches ofrain from Virginia to New York through early Friday. Added to this will be therunoff from melting snowpack although chilly temperatures will prevent anall-out meltdown which is a good thing.

Tuesday, I was driving along the Susquehanna on my way to Harrisburg and notedthat the river was quite high already. It won't take much more than an inch topush parts of it above flood stage, and there is going to be at least doublethat across the Susquehanna water shed.

Even away from the big rivers, be wary of flash floods. These can happensuddenly as water cascades downward off the surrounding high terrain.

Flooded roads are a particular danger. Look at it this way... If a hugebattleship can float, so can your car! Word to the wise... Stay out offast-moving water.
