Sun Country plans winter flights to West Palm Beach

Mendota Heights-based Sun Country Airlines has added an option for winter sun seekers. The airline has announced an exclusive nonstop route from Minneapolis-St. Paul to West Palm Beach, Fla., starting Dec. 16. The south Florida city sits on the Atlantic coast and is convenient to Boca Raton and Jupiter, Fla. Flights departing from MSP Terminal 2 are on sale now, from $299 round trip.

Hurtigruten is offering up to $1,500 in airfare on 2017 Explorer Voyages cruises. The promotion covers round-trip economy fare and is valid on cruises to such destinations as Iceland, Greenland, Antarctica, Norway and Canada. Roadie aims to connect people taking road trips with people who need things moved. The service, which is web- and app-based (roadie.com), works like this: Someone with something to be delivered posts the details. Would-be haulers search the offers for those that fit their travel plans. The two parties hammer out the pickup and drop-off details. Local gigs typically pay $8 to $50, a long trip with an oversized item or pet up to about $600. Roadie has about 23,000 drivers in all 50 states, founder Marc Gorlin said. Drivers aren't subject to the most rigorous background checks, but the only mishap so far has been one broken picture frame, Gorlin added. "When I look you in the eye, you'll take care of my stuff better than a faceless corporation would," he said.
