Kluwe doesn't mind change

The Vikings punter doesn't want any money from Donovan McNabb but he would like some publicity.

With Donovan McNabb headed to the Vikings, one of the quarterback's first requests likely will be to get his familiar No. 5.

That number belongs to Chris Kluwe but the Vikings punter posted on his twitter account today (@ChrisWarcraft) that "If McNabb comes and wants 5, it's his, BUT he has to promise to mention Tripping Icarus in at least 5 press conferences."

Kluwe confirmed in a text message tonight that he will give up the number in exchange for the mentions for his band -- exactly how McNabb is going to pull that off will be interesting to see -- and the punter also wants McNabb to make a donation to the Kick For a Cure event for Duschenne Muscular Dystrophy in San Diego.

Kluwe made it clear he has no interest in getting any money from McNabb. It's very common for guys to buy numbers from a new teammate when they are traded or sign somewhere.

But the story doesn't end there.

Kluwe also has requested that he be given the No. 4 -- or the same digit that Brett Favre wore while playing quarterback for the past two years for the Vikings. So all those folks with No. 4 jerseys can take them to their local sporting goods store and replace Favre's name with Kluwe on the back.
