Democratic U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar slipped into the banquet room to talk about the election and Minnesota politics.

She predicted that Democrats would retain control of the U.S. Senate, but with a slimmer majority that will mean "there's going to be the need to work together better."

If Dayton wins, as she predicts, it will show Minnesota is "bucking the national trend" and ready for a new direction after eight years of Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

She said Minnesota ranks seventh in the nation for Fortune 500 companies and has more of these mega-companies per-capita than any state in the nation.

Klobuchar credited Minnesota's education workforce as the top reason businesses come to Minnesota and thrive in the state.

Dayton, she said, has put a "laser focus on education that will help this great state move forward."
