WASHINGTON - Now in her second term, Minnesota Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar has landed a top committee post.

Klobuchar was announced Thursday as chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights. It's a panel within the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Minnesota has had relatively low seniority in the Senate, where longevity is critical. Klobuchar won a second term in November, the first Minnesota senator with multiple terms since Democratic Paul Wellstone won a second six-year stint in 1996.

In the Minnesota delegation, Republican Rep. John Kline is chairman of the House Education and Workforce Committee.
