The band presented a big charity check but minimal song variety.

Wait a second… I thought Kiss was supposed to be all about forgetting everything else going on in the world and just dedicating yourself to good, clean, fun rock 'n' roll. So what was the deal with the check for $340,233 – including $1/ticket raised off Saturday's fair grandstand concert – to the Wounded Warriors Care Project , which the band delivered to some Marines at the start of the encore? Paul Stanley even gave a speech about how "the government doesn't treat these soldiers with proper respect." This was easily one of the coolest things I've ever seen at a Kiss concert, and definitely the most out-of-the-ordinary part in this particular concert. Say yeah!

Aside from the mid-era songs that I already put down in the full review, the rest of Saturday's concert was pretty predictable. Of course, we can and should always expect "Detroit Rock City," "Love Gun," "Cold Gin," "Black Diamond" and "R&R All Nite," all of which really sounded as pumped as ever. But I didn't need to hear "100,000 Years," "Calling Dr. Love," "Let Me Go Rock 'n' Roll," "I Love It Loud" and "Lick It Up" again after the band already played them last time through at the Target Center. It wound up being pretty fun to have "Beth" back this time. So how about "Nothin' To Lose," too? Or "King of the Night Time World," "Rock Bottom," "Got to Choose" or something totally unexpected such as "Ladies Room" or "Do You Love Me?" Just a little more variety in the set lists is all I'm asking for. Everything else about the show (production, sound, energy, etc.) was grade-A Kiss, and I hope they make it back to the fair again. Here's how the set list went down: Modern Day Delilah / Cold Gin / Let Me Go, Rock 'N' Roll / Firehouse / Say Yeah / Deuce / Crazy Crazy Nights / Calling Dr. Love / Shock Me / I'm An Animal / 100,000 Years / I Love It Loud / Love Gun / Black Diamond / Detroit Rock City ENCORE: Beth / Lick It Up / Shout It Out Loud / I Was Made For Lovin' You / God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You / Rock and Roll All Nite
