Kick in overtime beats Coyotes

Brandon Hellevang kicked a 33-yard field goal in overtime to give North Dakota a 34-31 victory over South Dakota in the season finale for the Great West Conference rivals in Vermillion, S.D.

Hellevang had a game-winning attempt blocked with 7 seconds left in regulation, forcing overtime, in which South Dakota's Justin Veazey hooked a 37-yard attempt wide left on the Coyotes' (6-5, 1-2) possession.

S. Dakota St. 25, N. Dakota St. 24: Ryan Berry came back after he was hurt early in the game to rally South Dakota State on a late TD drive in Fargo, N.D. Berry threw a 1-yard TD pass to JaRon Harris to pull the Jacks to 24-23 with 2:20 left, then followed up with a pass to Mike Steffen for the two-point conversion.
