A look at the major transactions on Wednesday's first day of free agency.

• Defenseman Paul Martin, a former Gopher from Elk River, signed a $19.4 million, four-year deal with San Jose.

• Chicago signed forward Artem Anisimov to a $22.75 million, five-year contract extension, one day after the Stanley Cup champions acquired the center in a seven-player deal with Columbus.

• Colorado signed defenseman Francois Beauchemin to a three-year, $13.5 million deal and forward Blake Comeau to a three-year, $7.2 million deal.

• Nashville re-signed forward Mike Ribeiro to a two-year, $7 million contract. The Predators also signed defenseman Barrett Jackman (two years, $4 million) and forward Cody Hodgson (one year, $1.05 million).

• Winnipeg signed forwards Alexander Burmistrov (two years, $3.1 million) and Matt Halischuk ($750,000 for one year) and defenseman Adam Pardy ($1 million for one year).

• Boston signed forward Matt Beleskey to a five-year, $19 million contract.

• Defenseman Andrej Sekera signed a six-year, $33 million contract with Edmonton.

• Forward Michael Frolik signed a five-year, $21.5 million deal with Calgary.

• Detroit signed defenseman Mike Green to a three-year, $18 million contract and forward Brad Richards to a one-year, $3 million deal.

• Buffalo signed No. 2 overall draft pick Jack Eichel, who is leaving Boston University after one season. He received a three-year entry level contract.

• Arizona signed center Antoine Vermette (two years, $7.5 million) and defenseman Zbynek Michalek (two years, $6.4 million).

• New Jersey signed defenseman John Moore to a three-year, $5 million contract.

• Florida acquired forward Reilly Smith and the contract of forward Marc Savard from Boston in exchange for forward Jimmy Hayes.

• Vancouver traded forward Zack Kassian and a 2016 fifth-round daft pick to Montreal for forward Brandon Prust.
