Kevin Smith is the greatest film director ever; just ask two or three of the people who comment at aintitcoolnews. With talent like his, you don't have to play the media's games - which is why he's refusing to talk to the press about his next movie. Because he's that good and the movie is that incredibleand its success is guaranteed. So how is he getting the word out? New York mag's Vulture culled his tweets on the matter:

You might be wondering how insanely detailed it might be. Well:

Dear Mr. Smith: you made a movie. A horror movie. That's nice and we're all super proud, but the idea that a reviewer might not want to listen to you talk for 12 hours, and this makes them super lazy, well, that's a bit much. Hollywood Reporter notes:

"Cop Out" was a parody of 80s police-buddy movies. Critics who usually like scrappy up-from-indie guys like Smith if they do somthing interesting like make a watchable movie, panned the thing for being unfunny. There seems to be a universal agreement on that fact. It still made $55 million. Maybe this has something to do with the subject matter of "Red State" - imdb describes it as "a group of misfits encounter fundamentalism gone to the extreme in Middle America." In case you're wondering what kind of fundamentalism, here's the poster:

If you're thinking it's about Fred Phelps and Westboro Church, yeah. And I didn't even listen to 12 hours of audio. Lazy, I know, but I can fit in one airplane seat.

PS I apologize for the tone of this entry. Bad mood morning. I'll leave it up, because it would be weasely to pretend I didn't post it.
