KEVIN GORG'S PICKS

UPTOWNCHARLYBROWN

Fresh face has been off for six weeks but has been working steadily over the Belmont main track. His troubled trip in the Lexington Stakes while closing up for third tells you he is on the improve for this. Trainer won this race in 2006 with Jazil. Tracking style suits race-shape. Can surprise at a juicy price.

FLY DOWN

Smashing score in the Dwyer was electric and that makes him the only horse entered with a win over the local strip. New York-bred trainer won this event in 2004 with Birdstone and 2008 with Da'Tara. Grandpa (A.P. Indy) won this race back in the day, so the longer distance shouldn't be a problem. Respect.

ICE BOX

Rested since the nightmarish trip in the Kentucky Derby, where he was steadied multiple times before flying on for second. Sensational bullet workout last week screams that he is ready, and the extra ground certainly suits his running style. Major player.

FIRST DUDE

Showed amazing heart in the Preakness Stakes, setting fast splits before being nabbed late at 23-1 odds. Bred to run all day and appears once again to be the controlling speed on paper. Catch this one to cash.

GORG'S $100 BELMONT BET

$20 Win-Place-Show: Uptowncharlybrown ($60). $10 exacta box: Uptowncharlybrown/Fly Down ($20). $10 exacta box: Uptowncharlybrown/Ice Box ($20)
