Amanda Kessel netted a natural hat trick in the second period to lead Minnesota's women's hockey team to an 8-1 victory over host Minnesota State Mankato on Friday night. The victory improves Minnesota's winning streak to 31 straight, which is one shy of tying Wisconsin's NCAA record for games unbeaten.
After tallying an assist in the first period, Kessel decided to jump on the other side of the scoresheet in the second and record her fourth hat trick of the season.
Kessel's four points put her just two shy of making her the 24th player in NCAA history with 200 points.The top-ranked Gophers (23-0, 17-0 WCHA) outshot the Mavericks (9-13-3, 5-11-3) 45-12 in the game. NEWS SERVICES
