Garrison Keillor is making Sunday a day of rest. His weekly syndicated column, "The Old Scout," which has been in the Star Tribune's Opinion section on Sundays for five years, will go into hiatus starting next week, according to Tribune Media Services, which distributes his work worldwide. The syndicate said Keillor wants to complete a screenplay and start writing a novel. His final column, at least for now, runs this Sunday and is titled "A Parent's Prayer." It makes no reference to his temporary departure and there is no word on when he might return.
TMS says they will offer a new package of commentary called "American Voices," a collection from four high-profile columnists: Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, Atlantic magazine senior editor Ta-Nehisi Coates, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Joel Brinkley and GQ's Ana Marie Cox.
