Keeping tabs on Wednesday's morning commute

If your drive takes you southbound on Hwy. 65 through Spring Lake Park and Fridley, know that you'll be using a detour for the next few months. A road project kicks off this morning and lanes are closed from 81st Avenue down to Medtronic Pkwy. That means Hwy. 10 will have to pick up the slack, so look for extra traffic on that route.

Good morning, commuters!

A reminder that southbound Hwy. 169 is closed at Bren Road. The detour takes drivers out to 494 via 394, then south.

In Mendota, MnDOT shut down Hwy. 13 from 2nd Street to Lexington Avenue on Tuesday to stablize a slope that could come down at any time. The rain made the slope very unstable, so the agency closed the highway for a week to get up there and stablize things. The bike trail that runs through the area also is closed.

I'll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and I will need your help.

If you see or hear about any congestion, delays or problems, e-mail drive@startribune or tweet @stribdrive.
