Good morning, commuters!

Today has to be a much better commute than we have had the past couple days.

Over the past 24 hours, State Troopers responded to 350 crashes statewide, including one fatal wreck on Hwy. 280 at I-94. They also reported 170 vehicles that slid off the road or spun out.

Currently we have no accidents on the system, a marked improvement from Tuesday at this hour.

Roads today are in fair condition. Temperatures are right near that mark where black ice could form, so be careful even as the roads look dry.

Metro Transit says the first Northstar Commuter train is expected to be running 30 minutes late. It was to have departed Big Lake at 5:01 a.m. Subsequent trips should depart on schedule, the agency said.

I'll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and I will need your help.

If you see or hear about any congestion, delays or problems, e-mail drive@startribune or tweet @stribdrive.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
