Keeping tabs on Tuesday's morning commute

Road work on northbound 494 at I-394 is back and the left lane is closed up to Hwy. 55. This is overnight work and should be gone by around 7 a.m. That's not causing a traffic problem yet, but it has in previous weeks, so be wary.

Good morning, commuters!

Road work on northbound 494 at I-394 is back and the left lane is closed up to Hwy. 55. This is overnight work and should be gone by around 7 a.m. That's not causing a traffic problem yet, but it has in previous weeks, so be wary.

Now work on eastbound 94 in the vicinity of Snelling Avenue poses a bigger threat to disrupt traffic. The cones went up last night and they'll be in place until Thursday as Xcel Energy does utility work. The right lane will be out of service. That's always a busy area so it will be interesting to see how this impacts the commute.

I'll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and I will need your help.

If you see or hear about any congestion, delays or problems, e-mail drive@startribune or tweet @stribdrive.
