Good morning, commuters!

With today being Christmas Eve, we can expect very light levels of traffic during the rush hour. For those who do have to venture out, take it easy on the roads. Black ice is a definite possibility as temperatures have sunk to minus 12 degrees or even lower in the metro.

Public transit users bundle up as frostbite can set in in only a couple of minutes. Also, Metro Transit, MVTA, Maple Grove Transit, BlueXpress and SouthWest Transit are running reduced bus schedules. Plymouth Metrolink will operate routes as usual.

Red Line BRT and the Metro Blue Line will operate as normal. Northstar Commuter line will run three more trips from Big Lake to Minneapolis. Departures from Big Lake will be at 6:21 a.m., 7:21 a.m. and 1:06 p.m. Trips from Target Field Station will depart at Target Field Station at 6:13 a.m., and noon, 2:00 and 3:57 p.m.

I will be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and we will need your help.

If you see or hear about any congestion, delays or problems, e-mail drive@startribune or tweet @stribdrive.
