Good morning, commuters!

The post-Independence Day work week rolls on and it looks like part of today's drive to work could be wet and bumpy. A round of showers and thunderstorms is poised to move into the metro area in the next couple of hours, according to meteorologist Paul Douglas.

Roads are dry at the movment, but littered with debris on eastbound I-694 at Century Avenue. To the west, it's overnight road work that has 694 down to two lanes between Hwy. 252 and East River Road. According to MnDOT that work zone could expand eastward to near Central Avenue sometime this week.

I'll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and I will need your help.

If you see or hear about any congestion, delays or problems, leave a comment here, e-mail drive@startribune or tweet @stribdrive.
