Good morning, commuters!

All is quiet on the roads at this hour, but things could get interesting around 6 a.m. at the Snelling Avenue/I-94 interchange.

That's when St. Anthony Avenue betweeen Snelling Avenue and Pascal Street will close, as will the ramp from westbound 94 to Snelling Avenue. The ramp from Snelling Avenue to eastbound 94 and Concordia Avenue between Ashbury Street and Snelling Avenue will, too.

During the closures, which will last until December, motorists will be directed to Lexington Parkway, Hamline, Pascal, Marshall, University and Snelling Avenues.

Why all the fuss? Xcel Energy will be relocating power lines ahead of a big road construction project scheduled for next spring. That's when MnDOT will demolish the Snelling Avenue overpass over I-94 and rebuild it.

I'll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and I will need your help.

If you see or hear about any congestion, delays or problems, e-mail drive@startribune or tweet @stribdrive.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
