Keeping tabs on Friday's morning commute

Good morning, commuters!

If there ever the opportunity to work at home, today would be the day to take advantage. Roads are snow and ice covered. In fact, MnDOT has classified them as "Hazardous," a rating not often applied to metro area roads.

Traffic levels are light at the moment, but we do have a few issues already. A semitrailer truck is stuck on the ramp from northbound 35W to westbound 494.

On the Crosstown, a vehicle spun out and landed in the center median.

Metro Transit is running all routes. Currently 90 percent of buses are on time. There are minor delays on the Blue Line.

SouthWest Transit is limiting pickup points again this morning. Service will commence from the following locations only: SW Station- Eden Prairie; Chanhassen Station- Chanhassen; SW Village Transit Station- Chanhassen; East Creek Transit Station- Chaska;Preserve Mall – Eden Prairie.

I'll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and I will need your help.

If you see or hear about any congestion, delays or problems, e-mail drive@startribune or tweet @stribdrive.
