KARE-Ch. 11 has won a 2015 IRE Award, one of the country's top prizes for investigative journalism. "Invisible Wounds," a year-long investigation into how unqualified doctors are denying treatment to patients with brain injuries at the Minneapolis Veterans Medical Center, was cited by judges for its "emotional stories built on a sturdy foundation of medical records."
Other major winners included "Frontline," the Associated Press, ProPublica and NPR.
The awards will be presented June 18 at the IRE Conference in New Orleans.
