Israel's president, Shimon Peres, will be in the audience Thursday for the Jerusalem premiere of "Kaddish." The piece composed by Lawrence Siegel had its world debut in Minneapolis in 2008 with VocalEssence. Maria Jette and James Bohn were soloists on that occasion. They will again sing in the Jerusalem performance, along with Adriana Zabala, a voice professor and frequent singer with the Minnesota Opera (she played the title role in "Pinocchio").
"Kaddish" uses texts by Holocaust survivors. It was commissioned by the Cohen Center for Holocaust Studies at Keene State College, Keene, N.H.
