A 12-player U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team composed of six boys and six girls representing seven states will play Europe in a two-day competition at Edina's Interlachen Country Club as well as a nine-hole "friendly" match at Hazeltine National Golf Club during Ryder Cup week next month.

Reigning Junior PGA champions and fellow Californians Norman Xiong and Lucy Li automatically qualified for the U.S. team, as did runners-up Patrick Welch of Providence, R.I., and Alyaa Abdulghany of Newport Beach, Calif.

Others named to the team on Tuesday: Gina Kim, Chapel Hill, N.C.; Hailee Cooper, Montgomery, Texas; Emilia Migliaccio, Cary, N.C., Kaitlyn Papp, Austin, Texas; Davis Shore, Knoxville, Tenn.; Noah Goodwin, Corinth, Texas; Wilson Furr, Jackson, Miss.; and Eugene Hong, Sanford, Fla.

Participants are 2017 high school graduates or younger. Past participants include pro major winners Jordan Spieth and Lexi Thompson, who teamed together at the 2008 Jr. Ryder Cup in Kentucky.
