Jumping Ahead to Next Week

January 16, 2010 at 8:25PM

This graphic shows the overall pattern that will dominate the weather acrossthe United States next week. The West Coast will be very stormy with floodingand mudslides likely. The Sierra Nevada range and the mountains of SouthernCalifornia can expect heavy to excessive snowfall. The greatest amount of storminess is going to be in the West, but later in theweek a breakaway system will have impact on the weather from the MississippiValley to the East Coast. With cold air positioned across the Northeast, thereis a chance that this storm will bring snow to that section of the country.

The storm in the East is still somewhat questionable for next week, but theWest Coast is going to get slammed.
