Johnny Love's Friday Canterbury Park line

August 18, 2017 at 4:43AM

Post time: 6:30 p.m. Best bet: Kelamonster (Race 7). Best play: 50-cent Pick 4, Race 5, (1,3,4,5/All/6/1,5,6), $42.

1 250 yards. Open. 3-year-olds and up. Allowance. Purse: $14,000

#/Horse, Jockey, Trainer Wt./Odds

1: Sajara (Hernandez, Westermann)124/3-1

2: Gold Cup Skier (Mojica Jr., Bravo)124/6-1

3: Ten Percent Down (Loveberry, Tracy)124/5-2

4: Im Moneyinthebank (Sanchez, Schindler)124/6-1

5: Stella's Princess (Mojica, Bravo)124/9-2

6: Seneca Sally (Mawing, Gordon)120/7-2

Things went awfully well for TEN PERCENT DOWN last race at Prairie Meadows. The fractions set were electric, and the mare rolled on by for the easy win. STELLA'S PRINCESS went gate-to-wire last out for the win. She'll be knocking heads early with a few rivals, so too close to call if she'll have enough left in the tank when things unfold. SENECA SALLY didn't enjoy the turf venture last race and returns to the dirt. Had some success on the main track with her quick turn of foot.

2 About 7½ furlongs. Fillies and mares. 3-year-olds and up. Claiming: $12,500. Purse: $14,500

#/Horse, Jockey, Trainer Wt./Odds

1: Artitude (Hernandez, Westermann)118/15-1

2: Candy Line (Mojica Jr., Rengstorf)118/6-1

3: Upsidedwnpineapple (Ramgeet, Diodoro)118/9-5

4: Kathleen V. (Lindsay, Bethke)118/12-1

5: Stella Malone (Canchari, Robertson)118/3-1

6: Under Current (Velazquez, Berndt)118/5-1

7: Look of Revenge (Loveberry, Robertson)118/9-2

STELLA MALONE makes her first appearance for top barn and jockey. Not facing a group of monsters, so can definitely win first time out. UPSIDEDWNPINEAPPLE brings early zip to the race, and sports the best speed number of all the competitors that have raced. CANDY LINE didn't disgrace herself in lone start but didn't shine either. Might improve with the surface switch.

3 About 7½ furlongs. State bred. Open. 3-year-olds and up. Maiden claiming: $50,000. Purse: $23,000

#/Horse, Jockey, Trainer Wt./Odds

1: Bellwood Forever (Mojica, Riecken)119/8-1

2: Desert Lioness (Loveberry, Rhone)119/12-1

3: Sweet Gigi (Delgado, Bravo)119/15-1

4: Eppur Si Muove (Canchari, Robertson)119/2-1

5: Miss Brookside (Mawing, Biehler)119/5-2

6: Gaylesluckylady (Sanchez, Biehler)119/12-1

7: Anniesfirstdance (Bedford, McKinley)119/10-1

8: R J's Silver Syd (Ramgeet, Miller)119/5-1

9: Kates Verse (Klaiber, Miller)119/20-1

MISS BROOKSIDE was runner-up in lone turf effort at a big price and hasn't run a bad one in past four starts. Deals with a softer group in this race. EPPUR SI MOUVE has ample early speed and will show early initiative for strong connections. Projects as the one to catch. R J's SILVER SYD will be forwardly placed and could prove tough if she can carry her speed to stretch run.

4 About 1 mile. Open. 3-year-olds and up. Allowance optional claiming: $12,500. Purse: $30,000

#/Horse, Jockey, Trainer Wt./Odds

1: At My Discretion (Mawing, Diodoro)124/9-5

2: Call Me Bubba (Delorme, Kirby)124/10-1

3: Why Frank (Loveberry, Oliver)124/2-1

4: Spanish Jazz (Mojica, Bolinger)124/5-1

5: Iver With an E (Canchari, Litfin)124/20-1

6: Callingahardten (Ramgeet, Lund)124/20-1

7: Evening Concerto (Hernandez, Silva)124/10-1

8: Argentine (Lopez Jr., Fields)124/20-1

9: Mimito Boy (Bedford, Donlin Jr.)119/15-1

10: Fahne (Hamilton, House)124/15-1

11: Giant Gamble (Lindsay, Donlin Jr.)124/8-1

WHY FRANK will let others sacrifice themselves up front, as he sits in the basement for one late run. Going to have to dial it up a notch at what could be a moderate pace. AT MY DISCRETION brings his two-game winning streak to the turf course and should be in the hunt early. SPANISH JAZZ is a consistent runner but hasn't run on the grass in two years. Interesting option if you don't like top two choices.

5 5½ furlongs. Open. 3-year-olds and up. Waiver claiming: $4,000. Purse: $10,000

#/Horse, Jockey, Trainer Wt./Odds

1: Twin Cities Magic (Goodwin, Scherer)118/6-1

2: I'm Calling Dibs (Williams, Becker)118/10-1

3: Trip Back Home (Loveberry, Robertson)118/5-2

4: Cause for Magic (Evans, Fields)115/12-1

5: Luckynsuccessful (Hamilton, Robertson)118/2-1

6: Cantoya (Mawing, Silva)118/15-1

7: Super Silent (Lindsay, Pfeifer)115/5-1

8: Glitter On Ice (Velazquez, Miller)118/12-1

TWIN CITIES MAGIC departs from the rail for a barn that likes to win first time out. Last work was a quick 4-furlong drill. Mac Robertson sends out two first-timers with TRIP BACK HOME and LUCKYNSUCCESSFUL. Both have strong series of works and appear to be the ones to beat. CAUSE FOR MAGIC deserves another chance after hopping out of the gate in lone start.

6 1 mile. Open. 3-year-olds and up. Maiden claiming: $6,250. Purse: $10,500

#/Horse, Jockey, Trainer Wt./Odds

1: Unlikely Story (Hernandez, Metz)119/7-2

2: Kela Brew (Canchari, Robertson)124/5-2

3: Meeting in Heaven (Velazquez, Gordon)124/9-2

4: G Road (Delorme, Kirby)124/5-1

5: Kilroy (Hamilton, Litfin)124/6-1

6: Big Shorty (Lindsay, Van Winkle)119/8-1

7: Myperfectsoulmate (Mawing, Westermann)124/6-1

KELA BREW has been on the bench for more than a month but has been freshened up with some moderate works. Won two back as the favorite facing slightly tougher. UNLIKELY STORY got off slowly last out but managed to muscle his way up for show dollars. Will let others settle the difference in front of him and close late with ground-saving rail trip. G ROAD drops in from allowance race on the sod and has right to improve on the class drop. Should give a better account of himself in this group.

7 5½ furlongs. Open. 3-year-olds and up. Waiver claiming: $4,000. Purse: $10,000

#/Horse, Jockey, Trainer Wt./Odds

1: Wissam (Sanchez, Sharp)119/4-1

2: Crown Me Royal (Mojica Jr., Riecken)124/15-1

3: Charismic (Ramgeet, Diodoro)119/9-2

4: Promising Shoes (Loveberry, Hornsby)119/6-1

5: Secret Revealed (Hernandez, Gordon)124/8-1

6: Kelamonster (Canchari, Robertson)124/7-5

7: Unique Gold (Goodwin, Van Winkle)124/8-1

KELAMONSTER comes off career-best race, and now stretches out around two turns for first time on the main track. CHARISMIC ships in from the West Coast for trainer Diodoro, who has solid numbers first off the claim. WISSAM wheels back after six days, facing stronger in turf race.

8 1 mile. Open. 3-year-olds and up. Starter optional claiming: $12,500. Purse: $25,000

#/Horse, Jockey, Trainer Wt./Odds

1: Bluegrass Sight (Loveberry, Rhone)124/2-1

2: Doc Radke (Mawing, Westermann)124/8-1

3: Eddie Would Go (Hernandez, Gordon)124/10-1

4: Rodriguez (Lindsay, Donlin Jr.)124/6-1

5: Trident Hero (Mojica, Litfin)124/3-1

6: Hypothetical (Sanchez, Broberg)124/5-2

BLUEGRASS SIGHT won by large margin last out. Added distance shouldn't be a worry. HYPOTHETICAL ships in from Prairie Meadows and is a consistent moneymaker. TRIDENT HERO will take them as far as he can go on the lead. Been in the money past five starts.
