The only celebrity I ever asked for an autograph was David Byrne of the Talking Heads; he came into a bar where I worked, sat by the TV, and had coffee. He asked if I had any aspirin, so I got some from the office. He said thank you and signed a piece of paper and went back to watching a show about pygmies.
