Congratulations to Jim Thome, who tied and passed Twins legend Harmon Killebrew for 10th on the All-Time Home Runs list with career longballs No. 573 and 574 Saturday afternoon.

During the second inning of the Twins crappy 8-6 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, Thome took a Wade Davis fastball over the left field wall to give his team an early 1-0 lead. Two innings later, with his very next swing, he belted the same pitch a long ways to take sole possession of 10th on the All-Time list.

Harmon Killebrew then delivered a flattering congratulatory message to the old school slugger over the Target Field big screen. Not gonna lie, I teared up a little.

What I find most impressive is that Thome mashed all 574 of those taters without the use of performance-enhancers. Speaking of which, his next target on the list is Mark McGwire, who sits at ninth with 583 career home runs.

P.S. Have a safe and fun Fourth of July everyone!
