WINNIPEG, Manitoba — The Winnipeg Jets and forward Blake Wheeler agreed to a six-year, $33.6 million contract Friday night.
The 26-year-old former University of Minnesota star avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to the deal days after the Jets re-signed linemate Bryan Little to a five-year, $23.5 million contract.
Wheeler had a team-high 19 goals and added 22 assists in 48 games last season. He has 93 goals and 139 assists in 327 regular-season games with Boston, Atlanta and Winnipeg.
"Thrilled to be a Jet for 6 more years," Wheeler posted on Twitter.
