JANESVILLE, Wis. — A Janesville teacher has resigned a month after she was accused of being drunk on a school field trip.
The fourth-grade instructor was taken to a hospital June 6 after police said she passed out during an end-of-school trip to a bowling alley.
The Janesville School District said Wednesday that it accepted the 50-year-old's resignation from her job at Washington Elementary School effective Tuesday.
Janesville police decided earlier not to seek charges, saying there was no indication the children were ever at risk or that the teacher had broken the law. A police report alleged her blood alcohol level was 0.27 percent at noon the day of the trip, more than three times the legal limit for driving.
She was one of several district employees chaperoning the field trip.
