Nutcracker (Not So) Suite

Set in 1960s New York City, this "Nutcracker" has no Nutcracker whatsoever. Instead it features life-size Barbie and Ken dolls who sweep young Marie from her Upper East Side condo, where she lives with her pill-popping mother, for an adventure in the heart of Manhattan. Originally presented in 1993 by Ballet of the Dolls, this celebrated holiday spoof was revamped (with an emphasis on vamped) by James Sewell Ballet last year. It returns for a second year with brand-new Broadway-style choreography and costumes. (7:30 p.m. Fri. & Sat., 2 p.m. Sun., through Dec. 18. The Cowles Center, 528 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls., $25-$50, 612-206-3636, thecowlescenter.org.)

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
