Jackson County Central and Frazee share Class 1A championship

Apple Valley (3A) and Simley (2A) also won team titles

March 4, 2011 at 4:08AM

Best match of the day goes to the the hard-working guys from Jackson County Central and Frazee. The two duked it out for 14 weight classes in the Class 1A team championship tonight at the X, and wound up tied 28-28. They will share the championship hardware.

Frazee also shared the 2002 Class 1A championship, with Medford. That is the last time there was a tie for a title.

That about did it for the drama tonight. Simley won the Class 2A title 39-16 over Scott West, and Apple Valley wolloped St. Michael-Albertville 61-6 in the 3A final.

Jim Paulsen and I will have much more on all of this in tomorrow's paper - plus a little extra.

And we'll be right back at it tomorrow morning. Class 1A quarterfinals begin at 9a.m.
