It's gameday

Vikings open the season tonight against the Super Bowl champion Saints

NEW ORLEANS -- Finally, it's here.

Gameday.

The Vikings open their season tonight against the Super Bowl champion Saints and the atmosphere around the city is electric. But the buildup will give way to some actual football in just a few hours.

There has been plenty of analysis leading up the rematch of the NFC Championship game, but ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert provided one additional nugget today. Seifert reports that, according to Elias Sports Bureau, the defending Super Bowl champion has won its season opener for 10 consecutive years.

We'll have plenty of updates throughout the day and once we arrive at the Superdome. (Hopefully we don't get stuck in the parade in the French Quarter.)
