s Bond over? So the EW cover asks, citing MGM's troubles and the possibility for a multi-year hiatus for the property. Well, it could be done, but one could argue it's been over for years. I liked Craig, although reading in an interview that he admitted he didn't know how to drive a stick somehow spoiled everything - almost. "Casino Royale" was a fine reboot - dare we say gritty and edgy - but at this point Bond means, exactly, what?

When first created as a fairly amoral Cold War spy, Bond was a product of his time: he drank, smoked (200 cigarettes, an entire carton, unfiltered, in the marathon gaming scene of "Royale"), wore a tux when required, slept around, and had a Scottish accent. He could also smile without making it seem as though he'd temporarily managed to forget the Weight of the World. We can argue about post-Connery Bonds - I have no interest in defending Roger Moore's characterization, but go ahead if you like, and yes, I will defend Timothy Dalton - but the basic question remains.

Is Bond done? Will you miss him if he is?

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
