A student reported a man ran up behind her Wednesday as she was walking from Irondale High School and groped her, according to police and school officials.

The 18-year-old senior told New Brighton police the man grabbed her between her legs about 10:30 a.m. as she was walking west on County Road H near Rainbow Lane, about three blocks from the school and along the border with Mounds View.

She said the man turned and ran the other way.

She said she didn't hear him approach because she had on headphones, according to police, and didn't see him well enough to describe his ethnicity. Police know of no other witnesses.

Police have contacted the Mounds View School District about the report.

Sokolowski said the district has dealt with other incidents this year of a man who "has approached students and exposed himself." He said he does not know whether this case is related.

Police ask anyone with information to call them at 651-288-4100 or 651-288-4137.
