Iraqi peace activist to be honored
A former Minneapolis store owner who now lives in Iraq will be feted at a dinner on July 17.
"We will honor someone who risked much not to do violence, but to stand it its way," according to an announcement posted by Women Against Military Madness, the local peace group. Rasouli was frequently a speaker at Twin Cities rallies that opposed U.S. military intervention in Iraq over the past two decades. He returned to live in Iraq and continues to organize programs there that promote non-violence.
