Investigation into deadly Mankato shooting continues

April 22, 2014 at 2:37AM

Mankato police say it may be several days before they release the name of a person killed early Sunday in a shooting at the Kato Entertainment Center. Three other people were wounded.

Three people arrested at the scene remained in custody Monday, but investigators said it is still unclear what sparked the altercation.

The Ramsey County medical examiner is conducting an autopsy on the victim, whose name has not been released.

The shooting occurred about 1:53 a.m., following a celebration at the entertainment center associated with earlier events sponsored by the South Sudanese Student Association at Minnesota State University, Mankato. The two earlier events, which were university sanctioned, ended at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. without incident, a university spokesman said. The event at the entertainment center was not connected to the university, a spokesman said.
