Investigation continues into West St. Paul shooting death

Few details emerged Saturday in the death of a West St. Paul man who was gunned down Friday night in his own driveway.

Blood and torn police tape still marked the scene Saturday afternoon outside a house on the 900 block of Ohio Street in the south metro suburb.

About 8 p.m. Friday, police were called to the house on a report of a person shot in the driveway, according to a police release.

When they arrived, they found a man lying in the driveway with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he died.

Family members of the man wept Saturday when they returned to the home and saw blood still on the driveway. They declined an immediate interview, but did say that the man lived at the house.

A Cadillac Escalade with no license plates that was parked in the driveway belonged to the victim, family members said.

According to county property records, the house is owned by Florinda M. Luna.

Bud Shaver, the West St. Paul police chief, said Friday night that no suspects were in custody.
