Inver Grove Heights police chief won't face criminal charges

After being placed on paid administrative leave this spring amid criminal allegations, the Inver Grove Heights police chief will not face charges.

Scott County officials conducted an investigation into allegations against Chief Larry Stanger and decided not to pursue charges, according to an Inver Grove Heights news release. The city will decide whether to conduct an internal investigation — the details of which "will not be discussed," according to the release.

The allegations against Stanger, who's been with the department since 1989, first emerged in February. Another agency contacted city staff and alleged that Stanger had been criminally involved in a case his detectives had worked on. Stanger was placed on leave in April.

Lt. Sean Folmar has been serving as interim chief for the past four months. According to the release from the city, he will remain in that position "until the matter is resolved."
