Small Hummer: An oxymoron?

Later this month, General Motors' Hummer brand will unveil a small concept vehicle that hints at future production models at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, according to the Detroit Free Press. The Hummer HX concept is smaller than the H3 midsize SUV that is now the boxy off-road brand's smallest vehicle. Hummer won't say whether it has any plans to produce such a vehicle, but the rugged two-door SUV might give the brand a lower-priced model that could appeal to young buyers and compete with the Jeep Wrangler for serious off-road use.

New Mitsubishi sports coupe?

And, speaking of the big auto show in Detroit, Mitsubishi will reveal the Concept-RA sports coupe - possibly a preview of the next Eclipse - at the show, Auto Week reports. The lightweight concept features plastic body panels mounted to an aluminum spaceframe made of extruded parts and die-cast sections. A four-cylinder turbo diesel engine under the plastic hood is rated at 201 horsepower.

A Cadillac station wagon?

Well, yes, but not here. General Motors plans to relaunch Cadillac in the United Kingdom in 2008 and a critical piece of that plan is the Cadillac BLS wagon, which is not sold in North America, Auto Week reports. Too bad. The model has crisp styling and a capable twin-turbo diesel engine. Maybe next year?
