BALLOT RULINGS

Photo ID ballot question written by Legislature: "Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to require all voters to present valid photo identification to vote and to require the state to provide free identification to eligible voters, effective July 1, 2013?"

Lawsuit: League of Women Voters and others said the question was misleading and should be knocked off the ballot.

Decision: The question remains on the ballot as written.

Marriage amendment Title

By Legislature: "Recognition of Marriage Solely Between One Man and One Woman."

By Secretary of State Mark Ritchie: "Limiting the Status of Marriage to Opposite Sex Couples."

Lawsuit: Legislature wanted its own title used.

Decision: Legislature's title will be on the ballot.

Photo ID amendment title:

By Legislature: "Photo Identification Required for Voting."

By Ritchie: "Changes to In-person & Absentee Voting & Voter Registration; Provisional Ballots."

Lawsuit: Legislature wanted its own title used.

Decision: Legislature's title will be on ballot.
