City officials are seeking input on a greenway that has been proposed in north Minneapolis.
A survey at tinyurl.com/NoMiGreenway allows residents to weigh in on the project, which would create a special north-south route for biking and walking between the Shingle Creek Trail and Plymouth Avenue. The majority of the route would run along Irving Avenue.
Three primary designs are being explored. One would be similar to the Midtown Greenway that runs east-west through south Minneapolis, eliminating all car traffic from the street.
A "half & half" greenway would run cars and bikes parallel to each other, with some special intersections designed so bicycles do not have to stop.
A third concept would be a bike boulevard that would mix cars and bikes on a low-traffic street that is designated as a bike route with special markers. A similar boulevard already exists on Bryant Avenue in south Minneapolis.
